Cairns Family Medical Centre is a reputable doctors practice in Cairns that is dedicated to looking after you and your family’s wellbeing. Consultations are by appointment, Monday to Friday and by walkin on Saturdays. We offer limited walkin appointments if you have an urgency or emergency.  Urgent medical problems will be dealt with promptly.

If you or your family have an infectious illness, or you think you may have, please advise the medical receptionist when you book your appointment.  We may need to take some extra precautions for you.

Childhood Vaccinations and all child and adult  Health checks are bulkbilled.  When you make your appointment, please tell us you are booking for these.

Our doctors offer each of our Indigenous patients the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Assessment each year, and participation in the Close the Gap Initiative.  

The staff and doctors of the Cairns Family Medical Centre supports and participates in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander  Closing the Gap Health Strategies. 

When you are planning your next holiday, we can assist you with your travel vaccination enquiries. We are able to offer you a full range of travel health services for the individual , the family or and the occupational traveller.  Your doctor will give you a basic health check up and advise you of the vaccination you will require for the country you are travelling to.   Our onsite Pharmacy stocks most vaccines, so same day vaccination is available. We are also an accredited Yellow Fever vaccination centre.

We are fully equipped to provide  medicals for Pre-Employment,  Mining Medicals, Qld Rail Travel and Department of Transport, as well as Injury and rehabilitation management.

Womens Health - Our female doctors can offer a wide range of services for our female patients, such as family planning,Mirena and IUD insertions, Implanon insertions,  sexual health, antenatal and postnatal care.  When you are due for your Pap Smear, your doctor will provide you with a Well  Womens Health Check, all part of your doctors service to help you maintain good health .

Mens Health is important - Men benefit from a  regular heath check.  A regular health check at least once a year will help you stay fit and healthy .  If you have lifestyle factors that may impact upon your health, such as smoking, overweight, alcohol excess, your doctor will assist you to reduce these risks now.  Other factors such as stress, anxiety, fatigue, depression impact on mens daily acitivites too - talk to your doctor who can provide you with  assistance with this issues. 

Skin Cancer Checks can be done by your doctors.  These usually take around 20-30 minutes and when you book the  appointment, dont forget to tell the receptionist, so we allow enough time with your doctor.  During the skin check, your doctor will complete a comprehensive skin check and provide you with  an assessment of the treatment and management recommended. The doctors at the Cairns Family Medical Centre recommends everyone has  an annual skin check as a preventative health measure.

The medical practice provides health services to accomodate a diverse multicultural population and   those patients with a disability.  Patients who do not speak English or are more proficient in another language, can access our free interpreter service for your consultation. If you require  an interpreter during your consultation, please advise us of your language and leave the interpreter booking to us.

QML Pathology, Pharmacy and North Queensland Xray Services are conveniently located on site and operational hours are in conjunction with Cairns Family Medical Centre.

Radiology and Pathology services are bulkbilled for Medicare card holders.

Drugs of Dependence or Addiction such as narcotic, inclduing morphine, oxycodone and benzodiazepines such as valium or any other similar drugs  will not be prescribed by the doctors at the Cairns Family Medical Centre.  These drugs will not be prescribed in the first instance and a new patient will not be taken on long term with these drugs of dependence.  The doctors will refer you to ATODS.
